The last time I spent time with Rad, we were ringing the Salvation Army bell in front of TJMaxx. He was so full of smiles and good southern manners, helping the ladies with their shopping bags and entertaining the workmen who were fixing the steps.

He shared some of his dreams and his determination to make his life here among us. I marveled at the wisdom and determination of this young man. He was so proud of his new partnership with Dave and Shawn and the business he was growing.
When I think of the unbearable sadness of today and tomorrow and tomorrow, this poem by Maya Angelo gives me peace. For although he was such a young man, he was also a great one.
