Rad Spencer
There are very few “Rad Spencer’s” in this world.
Rad is one of the youngest members of our company, and he had more impact on each of us individually than anyone else. He deeply impacted all of our lives and he left an impression on our hearts... and I am no exception. He impacted MY life.
In reading everyone’s personal experience with Rad, there seems to be a common theme; Rad made a HUGE difference in everyone’s life he came into contact with. He made me feel special. He made me feel loved. He made me laugh. He brought Joy to my life. He invested into my life. He impacted me in a way that few others around me do. He made me feel like I was important. Each response seems to echo this sentiment. Brad recently replied in an email, “I don’t remember being touched like this by someone so young”. He radically invested his time, love, his energy, and his wit in each one of our lives.
“Therefore bear fruit in keeping with repentance;” Matthew 3:8
“This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.” John 15:8
If the fruit is making an impact on those lives around him, then I am confident to say that Rad bore much fruit in his life.
When Rad’s father came to town to visit, Rad wanted to make sure I had an opportunity to meet him so I could share the story of my motorcycle accident. I could immediately tell the genuine, deep love, honor and respect that Rad had for his father and I was honored to meet and spend time with them both.
My wife and I went to the Four Seasons party this year. There were half of the number of people there due to COVID, so this year you got to enjoy good conversations. Rad searched us out at the party and we visited with him for about an hour. Typical of Rad, he dove right in and asked about our lives, and we about his. I bragged to my wife about Rad, all of his successes and what a huge impact he has made at our company, not just in his work but in the real impact he has made on so many people. We left the party before it was over. We made it to the front entrance and Rad had run down the halls and out of the door, followed us to the entryway and said, “I didn’t want you to leave without saying goodbye”. He said he had a great time visiting with us and said that it was his hope to find a Christian, Wyoming woman someday. That’s Rad... literally running out of the party to say goodbye in person, and leaving us feeling like we were important to him.
How would I describe Rad? What words can I use?
Genuine... Real... Authentic... Loving... Kind... Smart... Empathetic... Thoughtful... Hard Working... Funny... Dedicated... Intentional... Impactful... These are qualities I hope to live by in my own life. But the most important thing that I can say personally about Rad is that he believed in Jesus Christ.
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
Rad LIVED his faith. Rad believed strongly and deeply in Jesus Christ. He did not force his faith on you, but was ready to share with anyone willing to listen. His exemplified to me, what it means to be a Christian. He loved deeply. He brought joy. He cared genuinely. He invested in other’s lives. He was present in conversations. He was intentional in his words. He truly cared about your life when you talked to him.
I believe God’s Word is true. And because of that, I have confidence that I will see him again in heaven.
