I am sharing my last memory and moments shared with Rad. It was Friday morning, February 11th, and Rad had agreed to drive me to the airport at 6am. I had been looking forward to this all week since we had planned on it and I always enjoyed our "windshield time" early in the morning, when the mind is clear, the day new, and the dawn still dark and sunless. Waking up before the sun is fun. Rad started telling a quick story about setting up a lunch date. I fondly recall when we would meet for our lunch breaks and go to Eleanor's for Taco Tuesday. We were on quite the streak there for a while before the pandemic hit. Anyways, Rad was explaining that he had been back and forth with a business friend about getting lunch and they had finally settled on the coming Monday. Rad then chuckled as he realized that he just set up a "man date" on Valentine's Day. We both just fell apart laughing. Classic Rad. He wasn't upset about it but he did jeer that the other fella probably will think that he's complete kook. Unfortunately, Rad's Valentine Man Date never occurred, since he passed away two days later. I will never forget our final laughs together.
Love you Rad,
Peter Henderson
P.S. After sharing this story to 'aradstory@gmail.com' a few weeks ago I was connected with the person who Rad had planned on getting lunch with that Valentine's Day - Oliver O'Connor. We recently met up for lunch at Eleanor's and had a great chat. We both ordered tacos.
